Concept
“Back to basic, we started analysing the different forms of energy we have: potential, solar, centrifugal energy… our goal was to obtain a very strong visual effect with a minimum consumption of energy. Somehow we think that this goal should be the rule underlying all our activity as designers. We thought that the pendulum could be an excellent solution, a very simple mechanism where a small contribution of energy changes at first into a perpetual motion.”

Project
Starting from the Loggia architecture, the concept of the pendulum is extended to 11 out of the 20 arches, in order to produce a ballet of pendulums and create a rhythmic and hypnotic installation like the fire of a pile or the waves that break on the shore. The 11 pendulums, moving in synchrony, produce a huge wave. The pendulums are formed by inflatable balloons with a 1,5 m dia, lit up inside and hanging from a metal staff, 3m long, fist started by a low power engine.

Ingegnoli
Fratelli Ingengnoli specializes in the production, selection and marketing of seeds and plants. It was established in Milan in 1817 by Francesco Ingegnoli and still now, after a good 192 years, Fratelli Ingegnoli operates both in the traditional seed and plant sectors in general and also in green decoration and fitting out of green areas, both private and public. For the installation, it supplies a thick long-stemmed bamboo wood placed under the arches of Loggiato Est.
