Concept
This project intends to recreate modern architecture combining structural, decorative and energy-creating elements, associated in a single object. This installation is meant to show how both solar panels and structural and decorative elements can combine at a design stage and become important and indispensable elements for a building.

Project
The installation consists of a 15 metre high metal structure created by Olmi, with a 480 cm x 480 cm square base which includes the modular light panels manufactured by Martini which light up using the solar panel manufactured by Pramac. This structure is oriented towards the south-west. The energy derived from power absorption during the day through solar panels is exploited at night to light luminous panels, thus creating plays on lights and shadows deriving from the structure of the tower. The tower intends to show that it is possible to integrate the three technologies. Metal technology, photovoltaic technology and LED lighting technology.

Olmi
The structure of the tower is made by Olmi, a company specialised in developing industrial plants with particular attention devoted to heat exchange and which has extensive experience in using metal materials and welding techniques. Lightness and resistance as well as construction rapidity are the features of this independent structure.

Pramac
As far as energy production is concerned, this project includes the use of photovoltaic units of the new generation manufactured by Pramac, based on a micromorph “thin film” technology. This new technological solution goes well beyond the traditional silicium panels both in terms of efficiency and architectural impact. These panels consist of a 5 millimetre thick glass plate and are embedded in the metal structure. Pramac, taking advantage of its experience in the power generation industry and interested in the new technologies, including also renewable energies, especially photovoltaic and wind energy, proves its ability to generate clean and renewable energy in a way which is not only environmentally compatible, but also aesthetically-environmentally compatible.

Martini
The light panels are manufactured by Martini. The panels used are equipped with a lightguiding system which has been especially designed to uniformly diffuse the light produced by the LEDs positioned sideway. The LEDs in different colours (RGB), when adequately mixed, make it possible to achieve 16 million different colour associations. They are controlled through a DMX512 operation system and, if appropriately oriented, they “give life” to the installation. The luminous elements are protected by a tempered glass screen and a steel framework.
