Concept
Bamboo, one of the most natural materials suitable for construction, is the star of the installation. With a contemporary language and technique, it is put forward as a material which, from the ancient building traditions of the past, returns on the design stage of the new millennium. In Boo-tech – BambooEcoDome, bamboo is used in the form of modular bars to create a section of a geodetic dome; a complex geometry where the woody material is called to show its proprieties in terms of static, lightness, versatility and modernity. In bamboo we find the crossing point of two worlds: that of nature and that of contemporary materials; the craftsmanship of bamboo can be combined in synergy, as in this case, with the mass production of steel components and the use of glass for façades and roofs. Bamboo also provides outstanding energy features, among which its high CO2 absorption, while its rapid growth ensures the possibility of immediate use; from these issues there results a strong drive for its use in the world of design.

Project
A section of geodetic dome which opens to expose as much as possible the bamboo with which it has been built, as a combination between the perfection of this geometry and that of a fascinating natural material. Structural elements of triangular base made of bamboo, taken from ridges utilized in a different project, make up the geodetic, bound by means of simple mass produces steel and neoprene joints, like all the other connection elements, a glass roof with the possible integration of photovoltaic panels and translucent fabric modules deal with climate control. The pressed earth floor acts like the roots of a tree, providing enough weight to support the structure without affecting the existing flooring. The general composition is a segment of a hemisphere where bamboo is the star and interacts with the high technology of steel and glass. An experiment on the potential use of this material in its natural state in the search of new contemporary languages.

Faraone
Faraone Architectural Glass Fittings is a company that is always searching for new products and technologies and it is exactly because of this that, for the second time in a row at the microclimatic hall, Dagad turns its attention to bamboo as a structural element, highlighting its static proprieties; the material is totally associated with steel and glass and creates a strong contrast as well as a close bond with the environment and a careful use of resources. On the occasion of the event, it will present a new system of bamboo and steel stairs, where the contemporary world manages to bring nature to interact with the living environment, keeping the quality and care for details at a very high level, as is the tradition of Faraone and its well known systems of steel and glass stairs.
