Sketches of Eighteenth Century French ballet costumes designed by Charles Nolan for the American Ballet Theatre’s junior company and its production of a new ballet by that name “Cake” by choreographer, Brian Reeder. An installation that moves from the actual costumes for the ballet to the inspiration for the Fall 2008 collection by Charles Nolan using the technology of the period (whale bone, light metals, pannier) with the amazing fabrics and technology of today (memory taffeta and industrial mesh).

At the Meatpacking District’s official Closing party the featuring furniture pieces by Caroline Mckenty.
Pieces are formed by manipulating the concept of the knitted structure. As with the knitted craft each piece embraces a continually looping dynamic with anything having the potential flexibility of becoming an extreme use of “thread”. Through this discovery, selfsupporting structures are created into furniture pieces that unite a craft with deep historical roots of domestic techniques coupled with modern industrial materials.

An exhibition of green chalk shoes used in a street performance commissioned by Friends of the High Line. Multi-disciplinary artist Julia Mandle led students from the Lab School for Collaborative Studies, wearing the chalk shoes, in a large-scale outdoor performance on the streets of Chelsea and the Meatpacking District. The exhibition of this performance will highlight the future public access points of the High Line, drawing connections between the neighborhood and the new park.

This curated timeline exhibit will highlight iconic modern masterworks from the Netherlands - spanning from the 20’s to today.
